Manchester United obtained European Glory, and have won the only trophy which was absent from their trophy case, that is, the Europa League.

United started off the game very brightly and Paul Pogba helped United go 1-0 up against Ajax, early on in the game. United were rock solid at the back, and didn’t let Ajax penetrate their defence.

United then doubled their lead about two minutes after the halftime interval courtesy of an acrobatic finish from Henrikh Mkhitaryan making it 6 goals in this competition. Here are the player ratings from this game –

Didn’t have much to do throughout the game

2) Valencia – 7/10

Was Solid in both Attack and Defence

3) Smalling – 8/10

Great performance from the Englishman, nullified the influence of Kasper Dolberg on the game

4) Daley Blind – 7/10

Helped out Smalling a lot, and did very well against his former club.

5) Darmian – 7/10

A solid defensive performance from Darmian who put in a few really good tackles in.

6) Herrera – 6/10

The Spaniard, along with Pogba controlled the midfield however his influence wasn’t completely felt in this game.

7) Pogba – 9/10

Scored yet another goal, making that 2 in 2 games, our MOTM

8) Mata – 7/10

The Spaniard was surprisingly started ahead of Lingard, however that choice paid off after a brilliant performance.

9) Mkhitaryan – 7/10

The Armenian couldn’t influence the game in the first half, however did really well in the second half and scored a goal.

10) Fellaini – 8/10

Great performance by the Belgian, his aerial presence was seen in this game.

11) Rashford – 5/10

Bad game for the youngster. Should’ve done better.

Ajax

1) Onana – 5/10

Could’ve done better to save both the goals

2) Veltman – 6/10

Put in a few good tackles, was yellow carded

3) Sanchez – 7/10

Misplaced a few passes, however prevented United from scoring in multiple occurences.

4) De Ligt – 6/10

Great performance for the 17 year old, he handled the pressure well.

5) Riedewald – 6/10

His bad throw in led to Uniteds first goal.

6) Klaassen – 5/10

The Captain couldn’t influence the game much.

7) Schone – 6/10

Not the best performance from him, he was substituted in the 60th minute

8) Ziyech – 7/10

Could’ve done better with a free-kick from 20 yards out played a few good passes and will be a great transfer for any premier league side.

9) Traore – 5/10

Was selfish in many occasions, didn’t do well.

10) Dolberg – 4/10

Didn’t do well at all, was substituted early on.

11) Younes – 7.5/10

Tried creating chances for Ajax, however couldn’t succeed he was Ajax’s best player.
