According to a report published by Express, Chelsea striker Diego Costa has relocated his family to Spain earlier this week.
The Spanish forward has not yet returned to London following the high-voltage drama that took place towards the beginning of the transfer window.
Antonio Conte had rather harshly informed Diego over his future with Chelsea. The Italian gaffer deemed the player surplus to requirements and alerted the player of the situation via a text.
This infuriated Deigo who was enjoying his summer break after a hectic domestic campaign with Chelsea.
A number of clubs were interested in securing the services of the Brazilian born Spaniard with Atletico Madrid and AC Milan leading the way. Costa was looking for playing time ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer.
Atletico Madrid are facing a transfer ban that restricts the Madrid based club from registering a player until January.
Reports suggest that the La Liga side showed keenness in signing their former player but Chelsea’s demands of £50 million put off the talks. It is believed that the Los Colchoneros will once again come knocking when the transfer window reopens in January.
Diego Costa had the opportunity to head over to AC Milan towards the closing stages of the window but decided against the same. Turkish side, Fenerbahce made an attempt to sign the player on a season-long loan but the talks broke down towards the end of Turkish transfer deadline day.
Diego Costa has made several appearances in Brazil, attending a couple of games in his native country. And it doesn’t look like he will be returning to London anytime soon.
The Sun claims that the player has moved his family to Madrid after leaving his house in Surrey earlier this week. The report added that Costa has asked his friends at Chelsea to take his personal belongings which are left behind at the club premises.
This could be a solid indication that Diego Costa will be returning to his former club, Atletico Madrid in the winter.
