Newcastle United have made a fine start to life in the Premier League under Rafa Benitez. The Magpies got promoted to the Premier League as the winners of the Championship and a lot was expected from them after impressing everyone in the second division.
While Benitez brought in some quality players this summer, it has only propelled Newcastle to the tenth position after six games. With Benitez still not content with his squad, there will be players coming into the club in the winter transfer window.
Reports suggest that one of the players who could be coming into the club could be Valon Berisha. The midfielder currently plays for the Austrian team, Red Bull Salzburg but has been impressing a lot of pundits with his performance over there.
Leicester City are also said to be interested in the midfielder and the Magpies would be facing tough competition form clubs outside England to secure his signature.
The Kosovo international would be the perfect link between the defence and attack for Newcastle United in the latter half or the business end of the season.
As the relegation battle in the Premier League intensifies in the last few match weeks, the presence of the 24-year-old will give them the extra bite in their attacking third and look for the deciding goal of the match.
Benitez was interested in snapping up the midfielder this summer itself but it is believed that the gaffer did not move fast enough to negotiate a deal with Salzburg and the selling club pulled out of the negotiations.
But Benitez is experienced enough to not make the mistake twice and will be moving in swiftly to offer the required fee to Salzburg and get the transfer business done as soon as possible which gives the Magpies maximum advantage.
