Sunderland are travelling to Preston North End for the 11th game of their season in the Championship and it’s not looking good for the Black Cats. They currently sit at the 23rd spot in the league table with no visible signs of improvement in the last few matches.
Simon Grayson’s men are coming off of a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town and the gaffer really needs to turn things around. Grayson recently gave an interview where he urged the fans to give him time with the players but time is running out swiftly for the gaffer.
Jason Steele has been a mainstay between the sticks but Sunderland have leaked goals in every single match more or less. With Marc Wilson ruled out with an injury, Tyias Browning is expected to start against Preston. Billy Jones and Adam Matthews as the right back and left back have done a good job so far. Lamine Kone will be the centre back as Browning pairs up with him for the match.
Grayson has no other major injury issues and that will allow him to continue fielding the midfield he has preferred this season. Callum McManaman and Bryan Oviedo have essentially played as wingbacks and tracked back whenever necessary. While Darren Gibson and Lee Cattermole have manned the central midfield.
Grayson will be heavily dependent on the attacking contribution from the attacking midfielder, Aiden McGeady as he played behind the main striker, James Vaughan. Grayson will also have the option to bring on Lewis Grabban late on in the match if required with the forward impressing in the eight starts he has made this season so far.
