In a recent interview, Thomas Muller has revealed that he pondered over a move to England. Manchester United were in advanced talks with Bayern Munich for the German attacker, however, Munich were successful in keeping hold of the player.

The Red Devils were constantly linked with the player over the past summers. It all began when former manager Louis Van Gaal made an attempt to bring Muller to Old Trafford, two seasons ago.

Jose Mourinho is also known to be a fan of the player. Last summer, Bayern chief, Jan-Christian Dreesen confirmed that Manchester United had submitted a £91 million bid for the German striker.

Bayern Munich refused to budge and Manchester United had to settle for an ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Carlo Ancelloti, who took charge at Allianz Arena last summer considered Muller an integral part of his plans and remained firm on his stance of not letting the striker leave. It has been reported that Muller was of the opinion of switching to Manchester to take up a new challenge in his career.

In an interview with German media outlet Kicker, Thomas Muller spoke about the possible move to Manchester United.

There was a point, two years ago, when this was an issue when I thought about it.

But the club immediately supported me and they told me, I belonged here.

When Bayern told me they needed me and how I am an important player, I did not have to think that much anymore.

The 27-year old is seemingly disappointed by the lack of playing time at the club following heaps of promises and assurances from Carlo Ancelloti last summer. There is a possibility that he may force out a move in January as he looks to cement a place for himself in the squad that travels to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Metro understands that Arsenal and Chelsea will be seeking to take advantage of the situation regarding Muller at Allianz Arena as soon as the transfer window reopens in January.

But gaffer, Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he has been in constant contact with the player and has not failed to acknowledge the fact that Muller was unhappy at Allianz Arena last summer.

I speak everyday with Thomas.

It’s normal that a player is not happy if he sits on the bench. It was the same with me as player.

Every player has to give the best. I know Thomas’ qualities but I can’t guarantee anyone’s place, this also applies to Muller.
