According to recent reports in England, Everton’s teenage forward Ademola Lookman is a transfer target for the Gunners in January.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s scouting network has given him a tip-off that the England U21 international could fancy a return to the English capital where he spent his initial years at Charlton.
Arsenal were interested in acquiring the services of the wide winger but Everton offered a much better deal to the youngster. Since the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson, gaffer Ronald Koeman has preferred to play the Iceland international on the left wing spot instead of Lookman
The signing of Lookman can be ideal for the Gunners. With Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez expected to leave either in January or at the end of the season, Wenger would need some young English blood at the wide positions.
Everton would not want to lose the teenager with so much potential but with him down the pecking order and Koeman not very convinced of his playing style, the Toffees could offload him for the right sum of money.
An offer of £15 million would make the Toffees consider a sale and with the player too equally interested in a move away from Goodison Park to the Emirates stadium, a January move is very likely.
Lookman’s agent and advisor is said to be close to the Gunners management and that would make the move smoother. Lookman hasn’t featured for the Toffees yet this season but the winger scored once in eight games last campaign.
