After disappointing starts to the new season across all the competitions, the Merseyside duo of Ronald Koeman and Jürgen Klopp could be out of a job before the end of the season.
The bookies have slashed the odds on the Everton and Liverpool managers getting sacked before they finish the season.
According to Ladbrokes (via Express), the odds of them getting sacked mid-season are placed at 12/1 currently. It is the Dutchman, Koeman, who is tipped to get the sack first with odds at 2/9 while he is closely followed by the Reds’ gaffer, Klopp at 3/1.
Even though it is pretty early, both Liverpool and Everton have had rather disappointing starts to the season. While Liverpool sits in the seventh position, seven points behind the leaders, they have been on a bad run of form.
Liverpool have been able to win only a single game from the last seven and have got knocked out of the EFL Cup at the same time. In the Champions League, Klopp’s men have drawn both of their matches till now which has prompted doubts in the minds of the fans who expected more from their team this season.
The situation seems dire for Everton though. Koeman’s men are in the 14th position in the Premier League but have lost three matches out of the six they have played so far. Whereas in the Europa League, they lost one and drew the last game against Apollon Limassol.
With both the clubs failing to produce the results despite the obvious potential on both the squads, Ladbrokes’ spokesperson mentioned that a failure to challenge the other big teams in the Premier league will have serious consequences for the managers.
If the current form is taken into consideration, both Klopp and Koeman are just hanging by the thread.
