According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via Express), Everton are lining up former Watford boss Walter Mazzari as a replacement to their under fire gaffer Ronald Koeman.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman was given a mighty war chest at the start of the season and the Dutchman spent around £150 million for some of the best talents available in the transfer market but has still endured a torrid start to their Premier League campaign this season.
The Toffees have lost four matches already and have just seven points from their opening seven Premier League games. Even in Europe they have failed to make any sort of impression having lost 3-0 to Serie A side Atlanta followed by a draw with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.
Apparently, Everton co-owner Farhad Moshiri had stated that Koeman’s job was safe following his side’s 1-0 loss to Burnley at home.
In Italy there have been reports stating otherwise with Mazzari heading towards a job at the Merseyside following a probable Ronald Koeman sack. It’s assumed that the match against Brighton & Hove Albion would be an ultimatum to the Dutchman following which an approach towards Mazzari could be made.
Everton though is not Mazzari’s only option in England. The Italian lives in London and would prefer a job closer to his home and hence the option to coach West Ham could be a better prospect.
West Ham have had enough with Slaven Bilic following a dismal campaign last season and a similar one this season as well and are hence looking at a sense of inspiration from a new gaffer. A source in Italy most probably Di Marzio stated –
“Mazzarri it’s ready to come back to the bench. He was contacted by Everton last night.
“He is willing to fly to England for talks if Koeman should be sacked. He wants to come back to the Premier League.
“He is willing to improve his English as well. Mazzarri has a great chance of becoming their new manager.”
It now remains to be seen which club the Italian chooses to join provided their present managers are given the sack.
