Jurgen Klopp and co. came into this game after smashing Maribor 7-0 in the Champions League midweek. Liverpool were in desperate need of points as they looked to make an ascend towards the top of the points table.
But there was no stopping for the man of the moment, Hurri-Kane. Tottenham dominated proceedings and handed a 4-1 defeat to the Reds at the Wembley Stadium. Here is how we rate the Liverpool players performances for the game –
Simon Mignolet – 4/10
No improvement from his performance against City, where he conceded 5. Time to start Karius maybe?
Joe Gomez – 6/10
The only bright spot in the defence today. Started on the right but moved to centre for damage control.
Joe Matip – 4/10
Considered to be Liverpool’s best centre-back but failed today. Matip’s poor header allowed Dele Alli score the 3rd goal towards the end of the first half
Dejan Lovren – 2/10
The Croatian seemed to have turned up to the wrong. Harry Kane bullied the centre back to take his side 2-0. Recalled by Jurgen Klopp in the 31st minute
Alberto Moreno – 4/10
Out of position on multiple occasions.
Jordan Henderson – 5/10
Managed to provide the assist for Salah’s goal. That’s it. The Liverpool captain failed to pick up his team after the initial breakdown.
Emre Can – 4/10
Was moved all over the pitch as Jurgen Klopp tried to salvage something from the game. The German failed to impress in any position
James Milner – 6/10
His left-back stint has come to an end and now he is a midfielder. One of Liverpool’s better players but it was an average performance
Mohamed Salah – 7/10
The Egyptian scored the goal for the Reds, making him their best player for the game. Seems to have lost his touch in the Premier League since the International break.
Roberto Firmino – 6/10
Technically not a striker, Firmino was isolated for most parts of the game. Managed an off the line clearance before Tottenham’s fourth goal.
Phillipe Coutinho – 6/10
A part of him is surely regretting that he didn’t make a move to Barcelona. A top class save from Hugo Lloris stopped him from getting a goal.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain – 5/10
Brought in for Dejan Lovern. But failed to impress once again. Another failed transfer for Jurgen Klopp?
Daniel Sturridge – 5/10
The Englishman couldn’t do much with his 15 minutes of play. The game was done before his arrival.
Marko Grujic – NA/10
Handed about 7 minutes on the pitch. Didn’t see much to earn a rating
