Jamaal Lascelles of Newcastle United has signed a long-term contract with the Magpies which keeps him at the club for six more years.
The captain of the club has had a phenomenal start to the season scoring two goals and leading his team to victory in tight games in the league.
The 23-year-old has already featured in 75 games for Newcastle United and his talent is now getting the recognition it deserves on the big stage.
Upon signing the new contract, Lascelles was beaming with pride and hoping for the good times to continue as the Magpies are currently positioned in the ninth place in the Premier League table.
Lascelles mentioned that he is over the moon and is in complete love with the club, the fans and the football he is playing right now. And why would not he be, Lascelles has scored winners in two consecutive matches against Swansea and Stoke City to propel United upwards.
Lascelles went on to add that he is happy to extend his stay at Newcastle for six more years. He mentioned that presence of youngsters in their camp breeds ambition which makes them strive for more.
The Newcastle United gaffer, Rafa Benitez, has trusted the captain of the side to lead the lines from the heat of the defence and Lascelles has not disappointed at all.
As a matter of fact, Lascelles is enjoying the trust that the manager has been putting into him and he is motivated to take the club as high as it can go.
Newcastle fans have been having a great year so far with their promotion to the top flight and with the current run of form. The news of their captain signing a new contact will just be the cherry on the top for them.
