Newcastle United might be in for a little shuffle at the front with striker Aleksandar Mitrovic being linked with a move away from the club.
The 23-year-old has not been able to cement his place in the first team of the Magpies which might prompt the player to rethink his situation at the club.
In addition, the club was open to listening offers for Mitrovic during the summer transfer window and they did receive quite a few offers from the clubs in and around England.
The 23-year-old was in high demand back then and with a young striker seemingly available in January, there would be no dearth of potential suitors lining up to grab hold of his signature on the dotted line.
The latest club to enter the fray to sign Mitrovic is this year’s new entrants into the Premier League, Brighton and Hove Albion.
Reports suggest that the club had sent in scouts to watch their target play for his national team, Serbia in the ongoing international break against Austria to monitor his performance.
Brighton are in need of goals in the front and Mitrovic seems like a step in the right direction. More importantly, they will be getting hold of a new player in the middle of the season and weaken a rival of the same league at the same time.
Mitrovic has only featured in a single game where he scored a goal but eventually got banned from three games due to an elbowing incident.
There have been plenty of loan offers for Mitrovic but Newcastle United are not ready to accept any of those. The Magpies are only looking at deals which let them offload the out of form striker permanently with the gaffer, Rafa Benitez not a huge fan of the forward.
