According to recent reports in the English media, West Ham are plotting a move for Atletico Madrid frontman Luciano Vietto.

The Argentine is currently surplus to Atletico gaffer Diego Simeone’s requirements. The Spanish club would welcome any decent offers for the 23-year-old and West Ham seem very interested.

West Ham gaffer Slaven Bilic is not a peaceful man these days. His job is under constant threat courtesy of his team’s dismal form at the start of this season.

Bilic brought in Mexican forward Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen to solve his attacking difficulties but the former Manchester United player is yet to find his form on his return to England.

The Croatian is keen on adding to his attacking options and has narrowed his search to Luciano Vietto. The 23-year-old striker arrived at Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015 but he still hasn’t settled well into the club.

The Argentine was sent back to Sevilla on loan to rediscover his form, which he did. He scored 10 goals in all competitions for Sevilla which prompted Diego Simeone to include him in his plans for this season.

Vietto has appeared five times for the Rojiblancos this season but has failed to impress at all. Diego Costa’s signing has given Atletico the luxury to unload an attacker and Vietto might hence bear the brunt.

The forward is very young and has a lot of time to learn and improve and under Slaven Bilic’s tutelage, he can achieve his aims. He would most certainly be amongst the goals in the Premier League if given the right opportunities.

West Ham might face competition from fellow Premier League side Southampton for the Argentine’s signature.

The Saints are lacking goals this season and the signing of the 23-year-old forward would be perfect for them. It would take some convincing by Slaven Bilic and the West Ham management to bring the player to London this January.
