We are half-way through this season’s Champions League group stage. Liverpool plays host to Maribor later on tomorrow evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s men come into the game after an impressive 3-0 win over newly promoted Huddersfield Town. On the other hand, Maribor picked a 1-0 win in the Slovenian League. These two sides met each other in the last gameday where Liverpool were victorious with a glorious scoreline of 7-0. Here is how we expect the Reds to line-up in this mid-week fixture –

Defence

Mignolet is set to receive a well-deserved rest for this fixture. Loris Karius will be starting in between the sticks for Liverpool. The German stopper will be hoping to impress Jurgen Klopp to improve his starting XI chances.

Lovern picked up an injury during the warm-up before the clash against Huddersfield. Ragnar will be replacing the Croatian International in the heart of the defence. Joel Matip is set to retain his spot on the side.

Alexander-Arnold and Moreno will be forming the full-back partnership for the game at Anfield on Wednesday.

Midfield

Jurgen Klopp has been sporting the same three midfield formation throughout this season. Henderson’s form has not been the best in the past few weeks. The Liverpool captain is set to be dropped to the bench.

Milner and Can are set to take up the defensive duties and will be crucial in breaking down from the Slovenian opponents. Wijnaldum will be playing the more attacking role as he looks to help the forwards to break down the defence.

Attack

Coutinho is a doubt for the game against Maribor. The Brazilian midfielder is suffering from a hip issue and could be left out from the squad for recovery. Compatriot, Firmino will also be rested as some other players are set to receive a chance.

Chamberlain and Sturridge will be taking the responsibilities to lead Liverpool’s attack at Anfield on Wednesday. Once again, Mo Salah is expected to start on the wing for the game against Maribor.

Predicted Lineup

Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Matip, Moreno; Milner, Can, Wijnaldum; Chamberlain, Sturridge, Salah
