Manchester City begins their second round of fixtures in the Champions League with an away trip to Napoli. Pep Guardiola will be hoping that his side can continue their excellent form and bring home the three points on Wednesday.
The Citizens come into the game with a 3-2 victory over West Brom in the Premier League last weekend. On the other hand, Napoli managed a convincing 3-1 victory over Sassuolo in the Serie A. Here is how we expect Manchester City to line up against Napoli –
Once again, Ederson will retain his spot in between the sticks for Manchester City. There are no changes to the line in front of the Brazilian for this clash as well.
Stones and Otamendi will be forming the heart of the defence and will be taking the task of stopping Napoli’s strong attack. Walker has been in a good run of form for the Blues and will be protecting the right side of the pitch. With Mendy still out with injury, Fabian Delph will be starting in the left-back position.
Manchester City’s midfield has been dominating the Premier League and Champions League. We could expect more of the same from the three-man midfield formation set up by Pep Guardiola.
Fernandinho will be given the task to break down plays from the opposition in the middle of the park. Silva and De Bruyne will be hoping to make life easier for the forwards with their probing passes against Napoli.
Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Aguero are set to start for the game on Wednesday. But Jesus will be on the right wing with Aguero taking up the responsibility to lead the line for the Citizens.
Sane is in incredible form for Manchester City over the past weeks and is expected to start on the left-wing against Napoli.
