Chelsea’s beloved captain, leader and legend John Terry said goodbye to the defending Premier League champions. The Blues have encountered a tumultuous season with a number of ups and downs.

Following their latest defeat at home to Tottenham, their hopes of a top 4 finish seem to be on the brink. One of the main reasons for the underperformance of the players seems to be the absence of a lead figure.

Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen and summer recruit from Roma, Antonio Rudiger have done very well to make Terry’s absence go unnoticed at the Bridge. However, Chelsea are in big need of a leading figure and could have found someone who suits their need in Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles.

The 24-year-old signed for the Magpies from Nottingham Forest back in 2014 and has done an amazing job to establish himself as a lead figure in the dressing room at the St. James’ Park.

Rafa Benitez’s side got a much-needed win over fellow newcomers Huddersfield Town in the Premier League and have more or less assured safety from relegation. Despite the fact that Newcastle almost certainly enjoy another season in Britain’s top flight, it looks like Jamaal Lascelles will be ready to go switch and shift towards a new challenge as he will move to a club of much bigger status and earn higher wages.

The stats speak for themselves when the question arises about Jamaal Lascelles’ responsibility at his current employer. He has been given the nod in 25 Premier League matches this season and has found the back of the net on 3 occasions.

His disciplinary record also calls for good reading. Having received just 3 yellow cards over the course of the season, Lascelles is one of the most disciplined centre-backs in the Premier League.
