Liverpool delivered a masterclass last Wednesday at the Anfield to stun one of the UEFA Champions League winning favourites, Manchester City.
The Reds ran a first-half riot at their home in an electric atmosphere which will see them take with them a 3-0 lead to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening’s second leg.
The 5-time European champions come into this tie on the back of a 0-0 draw at the Goodison Park against Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off. This is the predicted line-up that the Reds will field at the Etihad Stadium.
Loris Karius did not have much work to do in Liverpool’s last two fixtures where they shut store. The German shot-stopper is expected to step up to his high notes in the goal on Tuesday night with the hope of stopping a fiercely attacking Manchester City side.
Dejan Lovren is expected to partner new recruit Virgil van Dijk at the centre of defence. At right-back will be Trent Alexander-Arnold. The youngster was brilliant in the first leg as he was set up against Leroy Sane.At left-back will be Andrew Robertson, the Scottish missed Liverpool’s draw at the Goodison Park on the weekend but is expected to be back for Tuesday.
Jordan Henderson is suspended for Liverpool’s outing on Tuesday as he picked up a yellow card in the first leg. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain who scored last week will keep his place in the starting eleven. He will be joined by fellow Englishman James Milner and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum in a 3 man midfield.
The big news for Liverpool will be the return to fitness for Mo Salah. The Egyptian was subbed off with a groin injury after playing fifty odd minutes in the first leg and missed the Reds’ fixture against Everton. He will be partnered by Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino down the centre.
