As the transfer window keeps getting closer by every passing day, Manchester United are starting to be linked with a number of players. Jose Mourinho’s side is second in the Premier League and into the FA Cup semi-finals.

However, they suffered a shocking elimination against Sevilla in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. Their centre of defence has been a major worry this season and the skin of the defenders has been saved most of the times due to David De Gea’s heroics and the hard work of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young who are very often the fullbacks.

According to the Metro, the Red Devils have set their sights onto Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam. Since 2014, the Algerian defender has been involved in 151 matches for the Italian outfit but has been out of action since November. He suffered a knee injury and was back in training in February.

Unfortunately, the injury was aggravated again and he is now out for an unspecified duration. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Old Trafford in the recent months and the Premier League giants have been keeping tabs on his progress.

Manchester United reportedly took the first step into signing Faouzi Ghoulam in the summer. The Red Devils reportedly made an opening bid of £26 million a few weeks back in order to shrug off any kind of competition from their fellow Premier League clubs who are interested.

The Napoli defender has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool. His contract with the club runs until 2022 but an exit in the summer seems well with the odds.
