Southampton visit the Stamford Bridge in the opening clash of match week 34 in the Premier League. The Saints are on a poor run, but Chelsea are not on song either. It will be a good contest to watch for the neutrals.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have fallen ten points behind arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur and are just three ahead of Arsenal. Chelsea will be looking to grab a top 4 finish at the end of the season, which seems to be a big ask from them at this point in time.
However, nothing in football is impossible. The first battle is tomorrow when they host Southampton and we take a look at their predicted line up
The Chelsea defence has been shaky this season, but Antonio Conte has still kept faith in his men. Thibaut Courtois will take his place in goal. Azpilicueta will play at right centre back, Andreas Christensen will be coming in for Gary Cahill in the central position. At left centre-back will be Germany international Antonio Rudiger.
N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas are in contention for this match and will most probably be the central midfield pairing in a 4 man midfield for the Blues. Stepping up at left wing back is going to be the Spaniard Marcos Alonso. At right wing back, Victor Moses is expected to start in a routine midfield positioning for the hosts.
The west Londoners have had the biggest problems in the attack since the last few matches. Only Willian has been living up to the expectations, and he will keep his position as the right winger, deservedly.
Eden Hazard will be the left winger despite his poor form. He will be hoping to get onto the scoresheet keeping in mind Southampton’s defensive instability. Alvaro Morata, who seems to have gotten his form back is sure to be the solitary striker.
Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Kante, Fabregas, Moses, Alonso, Willian, Morata, Hazard.
