Chelsea faced West Ham United at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening in the final clash of the Premier League’s matchday 33. Cesar Azpilicueta opened the scoring for the west Londoners to send them 1-0 up at halftime.

However, in the second half, the Blues delivered a complete howler and conceded in the 74th minute to drop 2 more points in the chase for the top 4 spot.

Chelsea dropping points now means that they are 10 points behind their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are in brilliant form lately. Arsenal’s win over Southampton earlier on Sunday meant that Wenger’s men are now just 3 points behind their fierce rivals at 6th piling the pressure on Antonio Conte and Co.

One major change in the Chelsea line-up was the inclusion of Gary Cahill in the place of Danish international Andreas Christensen. The England centre back’s error led to the equaliser for the London Stadium outfit late on in the game and quite deservingly, the Chelsea captain has been subject to a tremendous amount of hatred and abuse on social media.

Gary Cahill’s costly error showed Chelsea their defensive woes again and the absence of a leading figure that was John Terry, who departed at the end of last season. Cahill was expected to step into the Chelsea legend’s boots and take responsibility but has not been up to the mark.

There were demands for Gary Cahill to be sold this summer by a few of the hostile fans of Chelsea all around channels like Twitter and Facebook.
