Manchester United, the club who were on a spending spree for the past few transfer windows has had a fairly appalling transfer window this summer. Jose Mourinho had been vocal about him needing more players and players, especially at the back.

With five games into the season, it looks like Mourinho’s instinct of needing a centre back was proved right. Red Devil’s were linked to the likes of Toby Alderweild, Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng and Rafael Varane all throughout the summer. Unfortunately for United none of these rumours came true.

United spent around £67.5 million in this summer which is fairly low compared the money they spent in last two years which shows that the club is prepared to break their own transfer record for a player who could improve the quality but that has not been the case this window.

This meant that Manchester United were heading into the season with five centre back’s Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo. Although if observed keenly there is one veteran defender who has been on the lookout for a new club and could perfectly fit in this United squad.

This player is none other than Chelsea legend John Terry. The English defender, who joined Ashton Villa a season ago is out of contract this summer and is currently looking for a new employee.

Although the transfer window of Manchester United is now closed, they have an option to sign a free agent like John Terry but United is not keen on bringing in a short-term replacement right now.

The 37-year-old has had some fond memories with the Jose Mourinho having won 8 trophies which includes 3 Premier League titles. Reports suggest that John Terry is also not interested in signing with the club and is also not keen on a move to Premier league as he would have to come up against his boyhood club Chelsea.
