Steven Gerrard and Rangers host St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership. The home side only have two wins from their opening five matches and are level on points with their opponents. However, having come off the back of a gritty draw against Villarreal in midweek, confidence will be high among those at the Ibrox.
The same will be boosted with the recent results against the Saints, who have won just once in 14 matches against Gers.
The gaffer had confirmed that Ovie Ejaria is likely to return to the matchday squad, while Borna Barisic remains on the sidelines. Elsewhere, Jamie Murphy, Gareth McAuley, Ryan Jack, Lee Wallace and Jordan Rossiter encapsulate the long list of injuries.
Allan McGregor remains as the undisputed goalkeeper of the side. His defence will comprise of the disciplined Jon Flanagan at left-back. On the other side, will be James Tavernier. Joe Worrall, who enjoyed a fine debut game, is expected to keep his place in the starting XI. He will be accompanied by the reliable Nikola Katic, who was rested in the previous outing.
Andy Halliday will look to stay behind the ball, defend deep, allow the full backs to dart forward, dictate the play and shield the centre-backs. He arguably holds key to Rangers’ results more than any other player.
Lassana Coulibaly and Graham Dorrans will play alongside him. Both of them will stretch the opposition’s back line, support the forward play and make their way into the box whenever required.
While Glenn Middleton should provide fresh legs down the left wing, Daniel Candeias will mostly keep his place in the side. Alredo Morelos was suspended in midweek and is a sure starter for this one. He will lead the lines for his side.
Probable XI (4-3-3)
Flanagan – Katic – Worrall – Tavernier
Halliday – Collins – Coulibaly
Middleton – Candeias – Morelos
