The season so far for Manchester United has not gone according to plans and the board, Jose and the players have constantly been under the hammer and the difficulties just seemed to continue as they went 2 goals down to Newcastle in under 10 minutes.

But, a spirited return by the Red Devils lifted them out of misery into a dream comeback, something that the fans, staff and the players desperately needed.

That, however, doesn’t take away the fact that Manchester United are still a club in crisis and that they will have to find ways to become more consistent in racking up better performances.

The Manchester United faithful think that one of the ways of doing that would be to part ways with their boss Jose Mourinho.

Paul Merson, in particular, thinks that the top bosses at United should consider replacing Jose with his long-term arch-nemesis, Arsene Wenger. He told Sky Sports

Seriously, that’s not the worst idea in the world. You’ve got to look at what Wenger did.

You don’t have to go out and buy £70m to £80m players with some of the gems he’s got over time. It’s not a bad shout. Sometimes you just need a fresh start.

Arsene Wenger has shown what he is capable of in the decade-long reign at Arsenal that he would have wanted to end otherwise, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he was a brilliant manager.

Manchester United may just need a change of ideas and Wenger with his preference of relying on young talent, may be able to do just that.

The decision, in the end, lies with the top bosses at Manchester United. However, according to Paul Merson, they should consider Arsene Wenger as a potential replacement of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
